Two local students picked for All-State Jazz Band

Two area high school students are among the few to be selected for the Texas Private Schools All-State Jazz Band.
Bishop T.K. Gorman Regional Catholic School Junior Luis Vasquez and Grace Community School sophomore Travis Roberts earned the right to play in the band.
Luis will play guitar and Travis will play first chair tenor saxophone.
The All-State Jazz Band chooses only one guitar player and two tenor saxophone players to perform in the 17-person ensemble, according to information provided by the schools.
Travis also was selected for the All Region Association of Texas Small School Bands Jazz Band.
This is his second year to be first chair tenor saxophone in the Grace Community School Jazz Band.
Travis and Luis will participate in the Texas Private Schools Music Educators Association Clinic-Concert in San Marcos Jan. 31 to Feb. 2.
