Authorities are searching for unknown suspects following a home invasion in a Van Zandt County community near Callender Lake this morning.

Van Zandt County Sheriff Pat Burnett said the sheriff's office responded to a call in the Callender Lake community in reference to an aggravated robbery at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. An unknown male suspect entered the home of an elderly female. The suspect assaulted the female and then drove away in her Camry, according to Burnett.

This is a horrific crime against one of our senior citizens, and we are going to do everything in our power to wrap this up quickly," Burnett said.

According to police radio traffic, the incident happened at a residence located at 303 Long Shadow Drive, which is just north of Farm-to-Market Road 2339.

It is unknown if there are any injuries.

Tyler Paper will continue to follow this story and post additional details as they become available.
