Spring Hill student achieves Eagle Scout

Matthew Aidan Barker, of Longview, has obtained the rank of Eagle Scout, according to information from his family and Boy Scouts.
He is the son of David and Lisa Barker, of Longview, and the grandson of Lin and Sandy Barker, of Flint, and Melton Powell and Debbie Stone, both of Van.
For his Eagle Scout project, Barker supervised the building of a retaining wall in the public swimming area at Camp Tyler, according to the announcement. The project was supported by fellow members of Scout Troop 613 in Longview, other volunteers and funded with community donations.
Barker's Court of Honor ceremony was last month at First Methodist Church in Longview. U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Tyler, was among guests in attendance, according to the announcement.
Barker attends Spring Hill High School.
