Employee Giving Campaign nets $13,150 for foundation

The Bullard Education Foundation's recent Employee Giving Campaign resulted in great support from faculty and staff with more than $13,150 in giving, the foundation announced Tuesday.

Foundation President Darren Davis said the entity is the largest single donor for the foundation, and about 300 Bullard ISD faculty and staff members were encouraged to give.

“It's the third year in a row of just a real strong showing. It's sustaining (the foundation), (and that) tells us the folks believe in what we're doing,” he said.

Davis said he believes employees also realize they are the benefactors of their investment and realize it's for the greater good of students.

That's because funds raised in the campaign are used for innovative teaching grants, achievement recognition, and scholarships with the majority going toward classroom grants, according to a news release.

Davis said the foundation will focus on grant awards next, and teachers are currently applying to receive some of those funds.

Among the 21 innovative teaching grants awarded last fall to Bullard ISD teachers, staff and students are iPads to help with reading fluency and comprehension; a small animal treadmill at Bullard High School to study the effects of consistent exercise on animal muscles; Dolby Media Players at Bullard Primary School; and learning carpets for prekindergarten students.
