Gala theme announced; event slated for June 8
Staff Reports

The 2013 Tyler Cattle Barons’ Gala will take place June 8 with a theme that pays homage to the heritage of the East Texas oil industry and the American Cancer Society.

Cattle Barons’ Gala Chairmen Amy Barber and Trudy Williams revealed that the theme will be “Rags to Riches: Drilling for a Cure,” during the gala’s recent Bran-ding Party.

The logo incorporates drilling rigs and a diamond signifying the 100th anniversary celebration of the founding of the American Cancer Society.

The gala raises money to support the society’s cancer research and work on behalf of victims.

Next year will be the 26th observance of the Tyler Cattle Barons’ Gala.

Over the first 25 years, the gala has raised more than $9.2 million, organizers announced.

“Because a cure for this terrible disease has not been found, we will continue to make a stand and fight by celebrating Tyler Cattle Barons’ Gala and continuing to help find a cure,” the chairmen said in a jointly released statement.

The gala will take place on Rio Neches Ranch and feature headline entertainment, dancing, food, gaming, auctions and a midway.
