First Baptist Gresham celebrating centennial

First Baptist Church Gresham will celebrate its 100th anniversary this weekend. At 10 a.m. today, former pastors will speak about the church's history. A light lunch will be served at noon followed by a multimedia presentation at 12:45 p.m. showing how the church has grown.

On Sunday, a lesson will be taught by Joe Thigpen, followed by music by Gresham Quartet. Dr. Paul Powell will preach at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.


FIRST PRESBYRERIAN
Gloria dae Cantores, an a capella choir from Massachusetts, will be in Tyler as part of its autumn tour. The free concert is part of First Presbyterian Church's music and fine arts series. The concert will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at 230 Rusk St.


HUMBLE HANDS
Humble Hands Quartet will perform a free concert at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at Trinity Assembly of God, 15592 CR 173 N in Kilgore. The public is invited.


MATTHEW'S EPISCOPAL
A bake and casserole sale will be held at the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church Pumpkin Patch, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The Sunday event includes free pumpkin painting for children.

“Movie in the Patch” will begin with games at 6:30 p.m. tonight. The movie is “It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” The event is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. In case of rain, the event will be moved indoors.

GALENA COMMUNITY
Galena (formerly known as Tin Top) Community Church will celebrate 87 years with its annual homecoming service at 2 p.m. Sunday. No Sunday school will be held, and a meal will follow. The church is located at Van Zandt County Road 4912 off FM 1995. Call 903-963-7052 for more information.


OAK GROVE BAPTIST
