Man arrested for grabbing, fondling woman at Rose Rudman Trail

Park goers ran to a woman's aid yesterday afternoon when a man with a history of lewd behavior walked up behind her and grabbed her and fondled her.
Tyler Police Public Information Officer Don Martin said the incident happened on the Rose Rudman Trail about 1:45 p.m. Thursday and the suspect was quickly captured after witnesses followed him and called police.
Martin said the woman was pushing her infant child through the park when she noticed a man wearing workout clothes, but no shoes.
“She felt he was acting weird and he was making her uncomfortable so she made her way to a more populated area,” he said.
As the woman continued the man suddenly came up behind her and grabbed her, fondling her chest and other parts of her body.
“She screamed and other people in the park ran to find out what was happening. They were able to follow the man and described the pickup he got into,” he said.
Martin said the man, identified as 19-year-old Jacob Bobbitt, was pulled over on Rhones Quarter Road and was arrested for public lewdness and jailed where he remains waiting to be arraigned.
Martin said Bobbitt was arrested last month on the same charge after he fondled a woman in local Walmart.
