Skies partly cloudy
Temperatures will be a half-dozen degrees above normal and top out about 87 degrees today and Saturday. Skies will be partly cloudy or mostly sunny. An upper-level low pressure system, which was spinning along the West Coast this week, will move across the Central Plains and drag a cold front into Texas this weekend. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Saturday night and Sunday including the possibility of severe storms from southern Wisconsin to northern Texas.
Barring any changes in the forecast, most if not all of the severe risk area is expected to lie west and north of East Texas. The air behind the cold front is of Pacific origin which will limit the cooling behind the front to just a few degrees.
