Man jailed for striking son with lawnmower blade
Staff Reports

A Tyler man was behind bars Wednesday awaiting arraignment after he reportedly attacked his son with a lawnmower blade, according to police reports.

Officers were dispatched to Mother Frances Hospital's emergency room on a reported aggravated assault, Tyler police spokesman Don Martin said.

Officers arrived to find 26-year-old Kyan Campbell with a large laceration to his arm, Martin said.

Campbell told officers that he and his father, Darron Campbell, 51, were doing yard work at the Borden's Company on West Front Street when the two got into a verbal disturbance, he said.

“The two got into a physical altercation that led the father to striking his son with a lawnmower blade across his son's arm, slicing it open,” he said.

Campbell was transported by private vehicle to the hospital for treatment, and the father was arrested on aggravated assault family violence, he said.

Martin said he was unaware of what caused the father to strike the son with a lawnmower blade. However, he did say the two men operate a lawn-care business together.
