No one wants to give up ‘freebies’ to salvage budget, October 10
To those who feel Mitt Romney was being “insensitive” during the debate by telling us some cold, hard facts, what would you propose? PBS can easily support itself if it had to.
The point Mr. Romney was making was that if we don’t really need it right now, it needs to go. PBS serves no function other than entertainment. (I know some will disagree.) I do not support our federal government borrowing money from China so I can watch a band in Austin.
Part of our problem is nobody wants to give up their freebies. I am ready to make sacrifices to turn this country around. They should get rid of all non-essential government-supported programs until we can afford them again. If we can’t pay for it, we shouldn’t get it. If we quit giving money to every country in the world (and supporting the U.N.) we could rebuild and repair our infrastructure and take care of people right here in the U.S. and pay for all of it.
It is time for a change.
