Justice?, October 10
Just as I expected.
District Attorney Matt Bingham did exactly what I alluded to in an earlier letter. In the case of former Constable Dustin Rust, he combined 10 misdemeanor charges into one. He reduced a third degree state felony “theft by a public servant” charge to a Class A misdemeanor because Rust paid the money back after he got caught.
Our good ol’ court system just let Dustin Rust walk with a slap on the wrist. Exactly when do we say enough is enough?
J. Stephens
Bullard
