A tax-free weekend program provided more than $12,000 to East Texas school districts including Tyler ISD.
Goodwill Industries of East Texas donated $4,525 to the Tyler ISD Foundation as part of the initiative. That represents a 20 percent increase above last year’s donation to TISD, according to foundation information.
For the past two years, Goodwill has donated 15 percent of each store’s tax-free weekend sales, or a minimum of $500, to that store’s hometown school district. Goodwill has 15 East Texas stores.
“Goodwill understands the importance of education and supporting our schools as part of its mission of putting people with barriers for employment to work,” foundation Executive Director Larry Goddard said.
