Norma Epperson Terry Hagan
Graveside services for lifetime Tyler resident, Norma Epperson Terry Hagan, 91, of Tyler, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler with the Rev. Gerry Giles officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hagan passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at home in the care of The Hospice of East Texas.

She was born July 21, 1921, the second of four children in Tyler to Annie and T.J. Epperson. The Eppersons descended from a pioneer Texas family.

Norma graduated from Tyler High School and Stephen F. Austin University. She married Hal Terry in 1947 and was a teacher with Rice Elementary School for decades. Norma was very active in Marvin United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Friendly Sunday School Class. She also was a member of the Woman’s Club and volunteered at the East Texas Medical Center and the office of her church. Widowed in 1988, Norma married James Hagan on New Year’s Day 2001. She enjoyed traveling, working crossword puzzles, music and celebrations with her family.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by first husband, Hal Terry; brother, Maurice Epperson; and sister, Edna Lamdin.

She is survived by her loving family including husband, James Hagan; son, Bill Terry and wife Maria; two grandchildren, Dr. Oscar Antonio Terry and wife Dr. Catalina Terry and Adriana Terry; great-granddaughter, Audrey Rendon Terry; stepdaughters, Elizabeth Barber and Arana Hagan; niece, Patti Potts, her children, Katherine Potts and her son Riley and Maurice Potts and wife Lauren, and their children, Emylee and Mary.

Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler.
