Texas State Railroad to host 'Peanuts' ride

Texas State Railroad will host PEANUTS™ - The Great Pumpkin Patch Express, a train excursion themed after Charles M. Schulz’s classic story, “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”

Trains will leave from the Texas State Railroad Depot in Rusk at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. today and Sunday and also Oct.13-14, 20-21, and 27-28.

Upon arrival at the depot, guests will be greeted by Snoopy. On board the train there will be a live reading of the classic story.

Children also will pick a pumpkin from “The Great Pumpkin Patch” and trick-or-treat at “Trick or Treat Street.” Other activities will include a hayride, petting zoo, live musical entertainment, bounce house, games, food vendors and more. Children are encouraged to wear costumes.

Tickets are $20 for children ages 2-11 and $40 for adults in Standard Class seating. A special offer of ‘Buy One Get One Free’ is also available on Standard Class seating. Premium Lone Star Class tickets are $45 for children ages 2-11 and $69 for adults. Children under age two ride free.

A special school day has been scheduled for Oct. 25. The train will depart the Rusk Depot at 10:30 a.m. The price for school groups taking advantage of this offer is $10 for students and $20 for adults.
