World group recognizes Tyler ISD for financial reporting
An international professional finance association has recognized Tyler ISD for top-notch financial reporting.

The district received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

The association is a professional organization of state/provincial and local finance officers in both countries, according to its website.

TISD received the award for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, which includes the district's independent audit report and financial statements, among other pertinent information, according to a school district news release.

The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, according to the school district.

“As a district, one of our main goals is financial transparency,” Chief Financial Officer Tosha Bjork said, according to the news release. “Taxpayers deserve to know how Tyler ISD is spending their money. It is an honor to receive this award.”

An impartial panel judged the district's financial report ensuring it met program standards including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read it, according to the news release.

TISD posts its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report on the district website, tylerisd.org.

It can be found by clicking the Annual Financial Reports link on the Financial Services page.
