Up to date on around the plate
This week marks the first anniversary of the FRESH Ideas television segment on CBS19. The segment is on every Tuesday during the 5 p.m. news and airs again in the morning show between 5:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

It is a taped segment that we do in the kitchen at FRESH every two weeks.

We encourage people to watch the taping and join the fun. We are there every other Thursday morning until noon. I love meeting people, answering questions and hearing about the food you like and recipes you are trying.

Next week in FLAVOR I will feature my favorite FRESH Ideas recipes from the past year and products in the store that now have a regular spot on my shopping list. I will also share interesting facts about the store and how to shop there on a budget.

I would like to get feedback. What do you like about FRESH? What's your favorite find? What's your favorite thing to grab on the run? Have you enjoyed some of the store events? Send an email to food@tylerpaper.com or write to 410 W. Erwin, Tyler, TX 75702.

I would also like to hear about ideas, recipes or topics that you would like to see on FRESH Ideas. We have fun things planned that you will enjoy, but I always like to hear what you are interested in learning.

This fall in the FLAVOR section, I'll look back at the Tyler Junior League Cookbooks. "Cooking Through Rose-Colored Glasses" is a classic everyone should own. I also love "And Roses for the Table" and "Ring Around the Rosie."

Let me know your favorite recipes from any of the three books. There will be a random drawing from all of the people who contact me about the Junior League cookbooks for a special Tyler-themed gift basket.

Another way you can get involved in the FLAVOR section is the Christmas Cookie Contest we will be having in December. Details will be released soon so start thinking about which recipe you have that is contest worthy and good enough to be named best cookie of 2012.
