‘Bob’ Pierce
Robert Bonn “Bob” Pierce, age 82, of Flint passed away on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, in Tyler. Mr. Pierce was a retired peace officer of 27 years — 14 with Tyler Police Department, nine of which he was a motorcycle patrolman — and 13 years of service for the Henderson Police Department. He was a nine-year Navy veteran whose service included shore patrol and the famous Navy Flying Rifles Brigade.

A life full of excitement and a whole list of “done its,” Bob Pierce had done it. From singing on the Louisiana Hayride to working on Navy fighter planes to serving the public, Bob Pierce will be missed but not forgotten.

Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara Pierce of Flint; three sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Chasitie Pierce of Tyler, Kyle and Ashley Pierce of Huntersville, N.C., and Kevan and Mikah Pierce of Jonestown, Colo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Bobby Almaraz of Henderson; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A service to celebrate Bob’s life will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Bennie Portwood officiating under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors. He will be laid to rest in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers are Dan Seelbach and officers and staff of the Tyler Police Department and the Henderson Police Department.
