Cherokee County republicans' meeting Tuesday

The Cherokee County Republican Club is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hong Kong Buffet, 1644 S. Jackson St. in Jacksonville. The guest speaker will be Republican candidate for Cherokee County District Attorney Rachel Patton. Officer elections for 2013-14 will follow. BLACK LEADERSHIP SPOKESMAN TO SPEAK AT GRASSROOTS FRIDAY
Grassroots America — We the People will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene, 10818 University Blvd. in Tyler.

Stacy Swimp, a spokesperson for Project 21, will be the guest speaker.

“Project 21 promotes the views of black Americans whose entrepreneurial spirit, dedication to family and commitment to individual responsibility has not traditionally been echoed by the nation’s civil rights establishment, according to the release.”

Swimp is the president of the Frederick Douglass Society, a public policy and education institution advocate for all Americans to learn and work.


SENATE CANDIDATES’ DEBATE TUESDAY
U.S. Senate candidates, Ted Cruz-R, and Paul Sadler-D, will appear in their first debate on Tuesday, hosted by WFAA-TV.

The one-hour debate will be carried live from 7 to 8 p.m. on WFAA-TV (DFW), KVUE (Austin) and Texas Cable News (TXCN). In addition, the debate will be streamed live and archived on the websites operated by these broadcast and cable companies, and on the website operated by The Dallas Morning News.
