Courtly Company
The young women of the Rose Queen's Court will be accompanied by escorts during the Queen's Coronation ceremony and other events. The young men are from Tyler families and other families who have ties to the Texas Rose Festival.

Rose Queen Haley McGrede Anderson will be accompanied by Jack Marion Skeen III, the son of Judge and Mrs. Jack M. Skeen Jr., of Tyler.

Skeen is a finance major at Texas A&M University where he is a member of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity and the Financial Management Association. He graduated from All Saints Episcopal School in Tyler.

While attending All Saints, Skeen was on the varsity baseball team and received the Most Valuable Player Award. He also was in the National Honor Society. Skeen received a Gertrude Windsor Award, for community service as a Junior Symphony League member and has volunteered at community events at Texas A&M University and Tyler.

Skeen has had numerous relatives participate in the festival. His father was an escort in1965.

John Rex Thompson Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Thompson of Tyler, is serving as the escort to Duchess of the Texas Rose Festival Joy Lynn Ramey.

Thompson is a finance and energy management major at the University of Oklahoma where he is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler.

At Lee, Thompson was the captain of the basketball team and was named Academic All District. He made the honor roll at OU and served as an event volunteer.

In 1985, Thompson's future mother served as lady-in-waiting in the festival and his father served as her escort. Many other family members also have participated.
