Residents can register to vote at events Tuesday

The League of Women Voters of Tyler/Smith County announced two events to help residents register to vote.

The group will register students and teachers at Robert E. Lee High School during lunch Tuesday.

The general public will have the opportunity to register at the Tyler Public Library Auditorium from 3 to 6:30 p.m. For more information and an online voters guide, go to www.VOTE411.org.


Smith County Democratic Club
The Smith County Democratic Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Genecov Room of the Chamber of Commerce Building, 315 N. Broadway Ave. in Tyler.

U.S. Senate candidate Paul Sadler will be the guest speaker. Sadler, a Henderson attorney, is a former state representative.


GRASSROOTS MEETING
Grassroots America — We the People will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Cornerstone Church Assembly of God, 9107 Paluxy Drive in Tyler.

Mike Connelly, a constitutional lawyer, will make a presentation titled “The Approaching Constitutional Crisis.”

It will include commentary on President Barack Obama’s actions in office, federal government takeovers of private sector businesses, “Obamacare” and unconstitutional executive orders, according to the release.

Connelly specializes in constitutional law and is the author of four books.

Lunch will be available for purchase, or attendees may bring their own.
