Rose Festival

Out-of-town duchesses linked to Tyler families
Joining Rose Queen Haley McGrede Anderson and other Tyler participants in the Texas Rose Festival's queen's court are 23 young women serving as the out-of-town duchesses.

The women are members of families who have close connections to Tyler families. Many have a history of family participation in the Texas Rose Festival.

They will be formally presented during the elaborate Queen's Coronation on Oct. 19 in the Cowan Center at The University of Texas at Tyler. Tickets can be ordered by calling the box office at 903-566-7424 or going to the website texasrosefestival.com.

The festival theme is “Indochine: Year of the Dragon.” Events will take place Oct. 18 to 21 celebrating the beauty of the rose and Tyler's rose industry.


OUT-OF-TOWN DUCHESSES
Virginia Peterson Andrews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Richard Andrews of Fort Worth, is the Duchess of Fort Worth.
A finance major at Texas Christian University, she is in Chi Omega sorority. In high school she was a cheerleader, an honor student and tennis team captain.
Miss Andrews is sponsored by Dr. and Mrs. William George Brelsford.

Camilla Rose Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Brown Jr. of Waco, is the Duchess of Waco.
A business major at Texas Christian University, she is in Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. In high school she was a Leadership for Life coach, in academic honor societies and competed in volleyball.
Miss Brown is sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Faulkner.

Georganna Beall Carlock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George David Carlock III of Dallas, is the Duchess of Greenway Parks.
A journalism and Spanish major at Washington & Lee University, she is in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, on the Student Recruitment Committee and a peer counselor. She is also on the dean's list.
Miss Carlock is sponsored by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Upton Beall.

Emily Ann Closuit, daughter of Kenneth Paul Closuit and Catherine Sheppard Closuit of Aledo, is the Duchess of Aledo.
A marketing and education major at West Texas A&M University, she is on the college soccer team. In high school she was a standout in soccer and received honors for academic excellence.
Miss Closuit is sponsored by her grandmother, Ann C. Norris.

Catherine Elizabeth Crawford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crawford of Abilene, is the Duchess of Abilene.
A speech pathology major at Texas Christian University, she is in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. In high school she received awards for exceptional community service and academic excellence and competed in sports.

Caroline Lee Dillon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Richard Dillon of Dallas, is the Duchess of Preston Hollow.
She attends Southern Methodist University where she is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and is involved in the Best Buddies program and Mentors in the Community tutoring.

Katherine Jane Francis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William D. Francis of Dallas, is the Duchess of North Dallas.
A human and organizational development major at Vanderbilt University, she is a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, a Peabody Scholar and recipient of the Kathaleen K. Bauer ASTRA Scholarship.

Lilly Elana Foulard, daughter of Michael Foulard and Dr. Georgia Gatoura Foulard is the Duchess of River Oaks.
A fine arts major at the University of Southern California, she is in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and a member of the college ski team and National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Bailey Lafeyette Harrison, daughter of Ms. Laurie Sands Harrison of Dallas and Frank Walls Harrison III of Dallas, is the Duchess of Dallas.
She attends Texas Christian University where she is a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. In high school she played tennis was a volunteer at Dallas Children's Theatre and took part in international study travel.

Katherine Ross Kirkland, daughter of Robert Wales Kirkland of Houston, is the Duchess of the Bayou City.
She attends Wake Forest University where she is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. In high school she competed in field hockey, soccer and track, was the year book editor and received academic honors.

Madison Meryl Leibman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Leibman of Houston, is the Duchess of Memorial.
She is studying business at The University of Texas at Austin where she is a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She is involved in UT's S.H.A.R.E. program and has studied British cultural history in Cambridge, England.

Patricia Porter Mays, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Mays of Fort Worth, is the Duchess of Overton Park.
A communications sciences major at The University of Texas at Austin, she is in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and in the Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies. In high school she was a National Merit Scholar and the yearbook editor.

Megan Lea Milliorn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Milliorn of Dallas, is the Duchess of University.
A business major at Texas Tech University, she is in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. At Texas Tech, she made the President's Honor Roll, and is a recipient of an LP&L Impact Scholarship honoring academics, achievement and community service.

Harriet “Hattie” Tatum Weber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet Ross Weber Jr. of Dallas, is the Duchess of Highland Park.
She is a philosophy and sociology major at Wofford College where she is on the Activities Council and serves as a Wofford Ambassador. She has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Juvenile Diabetes and The Salvation Army.
