Signature Chefs Gala showcases food, flowers and competition
Tickets are on sale for the 2012 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction and Gala that will be held at The Cascades on Tuesday, Sept 25. This year's event has been revamped and will not only feature some of the East Texas area's finest chefs and restaurants, but will also highlight florists and table design.
The format for the evening is a tasting menu showcasing each chef and restaurant, but this year there will be a competition between the chefs and florists and at the end of the evening one chef will be awarded for the best dish and one florist will be awarded for best centerpiece and table design.
"We are expecting some very creative dishes and table arrangements," said Lisa Bowman, culinary chair for the event. "I've asked the chefs to create something that highlights themselves and their company's cuisine, and the florists have been asked to step out of the box and come up with some stunning centerpieces."
The food and flowers will be judged by March of Dimes employees and board members, attending members of the media and masters of ceremonies, Sherriff J.B. Smith and Doc Deason.
Mrs. Bowman is the owner and pastry chef of Adalante Catering Company. A complete catering and event planning company that specializes in planning and executing whatever type of gathering their clients have in mind.
"We offer a level of quality and service that makes each event memorable and exciting. We handle every detail so that our clients don't have to deal with multiple vendors. It's a complete turn-key service that takes the stress out of planning your event and the whole process is easier and more enjoyable," Mrs. Bowman said. Along with her husband, Chef Whit Bowman, they are lending their event planning expertise to the March of Dimes to make this year's Signature Chefs Gala more memorable than the previous three years.
The list of restaurants and chefs providing food for the event is not finalized, but as of press time on Tuesday the participants included The Cascades, FRESH by Brookshire's, Fat Catz, ZaZas, Bernards, Adalante Catering Company, Village Bakery, Lago del Pino, Johnny Carinos, Shoguns, Willowbrook Country Club, Ribmasters and Azalea Food Company.
