A Cherokee County man who led authorities on a chase Friday was expected to face charges.

The chase started about 9 a.m. on Farm-to-Market Road 747, near County Road 3203.

Cherokee County Precinct 3 Constable Eddie Lee said he tried to stop the man, who was on a dirt bike, because the man almost ran into him. At the time, he was not wearing a helmet and had no license plate.

Lee said he chased him about 5 minutes down the road, and then the man went into a wooded area.

Four Texas Department of Public Safety officers were working with the sheriff’s office to find the man Friday.

Authorities never caught the man, but his mother told authorities she was looking for him and would try to get him to turn himself in.

“Four witnesses have identified him. We also identified him on the video. There is no doubt in my mind who he is…,” Lee said. “I hope they try to get him to give himself up.”

The man has a warrant out of Anderson County for burglary. Lee said his office will get a warrant for fleeing, which will be a state jail felony.
