The “all-clear” horn sounded at Delek Refining Ltd. refinery on McMurrey Drive around 5:15 p.m. after a fire broke out briefly at the plant.
The refinery processes petroleum products including gasoline and diesel.
Tyler Fire Department trucks and tankers sat idling in the emergency staging area across the street from the plant to back-up refinery fire crews.
District Chief Joey Wiggins said a fire did break out at the location but that refinery crews handled it without incident. Tanker trucks continued to enter and exit the plant.
“They sounded the all clear horn which tells everyone in the plant that it is ok,” he said.
