Beatrice Barrett
Funeral services for Beatrice Barrett, age 97, of Henderson, formerly of Mount Enterprise, will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 1, 2012, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Enterprise with the Rev. Dean Grigs-by and the Rev. Darrell Owens officiating.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Heights Cemetery in Mount Enterprise under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.

Beatrice was born Aug. 22, 1915, to Will and Hattie Ash Thomas in Rusk County.

She worked with her husband, Horace Barrett, in several business adventures and was appointed to complete his term as Justice of the Peace at his death in 1989. She was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. She was one of the first two women to take the oath for jury duty in Rusk County in 1955.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her daughter, Jannette Elliott in 1979, four brothers and a sister.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James “Bo” and Jane Barrett; sister, Billie Owens; four grandchildren, Sandra and Mitch Davis, Diane and Mark Ellis, Jim and Dee Elliott, and Teresa Elliott; seven great-grandchildren, Jason Ellis, Sarah Clark, Jeramey Elliott, Mallory Spencer, Twink Ritter, Tara Johnson, Alexia Harris; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kaylie Burnes and Ashton Clark.

Visitation was held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday Aug. 31, 2012, at Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.

Pallbearers will be Jason Ellis, Jeramey Elliott, Nate Clark, Shade Spencer, Jay Ritter and Levi Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Lee, Iven Moore, Jerry Owens, Davey Williams and Wallace Donaho.
