Stephen F. Austin football opener delayed until Friday
NACOGDOCHES — Due to the westward path of Hurricane Isaac, Stephen F. Austin has moved its season football opener against Southwestern Oklahoma 6 p.m. Friday, SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill, announced.

The game was originally slated for Thursday at Homer Bryce Stadium on the SFA campus.

“With the westward movement of Hurricane Isaac we felt this was a necessary precaution,” said Hill. “We always want to do what is in the best interest of our student-athletes and fans, and didn’t want to place them in harm’s way. Delaying the start of the game by 24 hours was best option for everyone involved.”

The contest will serve as the season-opener for both schools. SFA enters the contest coming off a 6-5 campaign a year ago, and riding a five-game win streak. The Bulldogs were 5-6 last season.
