Local restaurant dedicates today as fundraising event for foundation

The Tyler Junior College Foundation will have its annual HGR General Contractors Scholarship Golf Tournament at Hollytree Country Club on Sept. 6.
However, Villa Montez restaurant is showing its support for the tournament this month. The Tyler restaurant will allocate 10 percent of its profits today toward Tyler Junior College scholarships, according to a news release.
Each year, the foundation helps TJC provide almost $1.9 million in scholarship funding. Still, hundreds of students are turned away annually, according to the news release.
The support of tournament sponsors such as Villa Montez helps fill the need.
