Authorities searching for 2-year-old boy in Winona area
The Smith County Sheriff's Office confirmed they are searching for a 2-year-old boy who went missing in the Winona area.

Multiple agencies, including fire departments, the sheriff's office and air support are searching for the toddler who went missing while playing hide-and-seek near Farm-to-Market Road 16 and U.S. Highway 271, according to dispatchers.

The Sheriff's Office is in charge of the investigation, officials said.

Department of Public Safety officials said the child is wearing a red, white and green shirt and tan shorts. He is barefoot and apparently mentally handicapped, authorities said, and his name is Jake.

Officials do not believe the child was abducted and there are no plans at this time to issue an Amber Alert, department dispatchers said.
