LeTourneau to host health fair
LONGVIEW — LeTourneau University’s annual Get it Together health fair will be held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Solheim Arena on the LeTourneau University campus, 2100 Mobberly Ave.

The Get it Together Health Fair is one of East Texas’s largest health care events. Good Shepherd Medical Center will be onsite to provide free medical lab tests which include complete lipid profiles and glucose testing. More than 70 business and health care professionals participate.

Guests can save hundreds in health care assessments and education. Door prizes will be given away every few minutes.

For most accurate lab results, guests are encouraged to fast after midnight, the night before having lab work drawn. Other free services include blood pressure and pulse oximetry testing, fitness assessments, spinal exams, foot screenings, vision and glaucoma screenings, hearing screenings, nutrition and diet counseling, heart health, exercise counseling, and financial health advice.

Drug and alcohol prevention and abstinence education, along with mental health and wellness education will be available. The community will have an opportunity to visit with a local pharmacist and learn the importance of organ and bone marrow donation and register with Southwest Transplant Alliance and the National Marrow Donor Registry.

“Our free Get it Together health fair emphasizes the importance of making lifestyle changes to improve your overall health and well-being,” said LETU Director of Health Services Shela Dawson. “This community outreach encompasses the whole person, mentally, physically and spiritually.”
