Early registration set to open Sept. 1 for nonprofit event
Staff Reports

The Nonprofit Development Center of United Way of Smith County will hold The Bright Ideas for Success Conference for nonprofit professionals in East Texas Nov. 9.

“Some nonprofits can’t afford to send their staff and volunteers to conferences in Dallas or Austin,” Nan Moore, president of United Way of Smith County, said in a written release. “We want to give nonprofit professionals an opportunity for continuing education in the convenience of their own backyard.”

Nonprofit professionals, businesses and public attendees are asked to register at www.brightideasforsuccess.com. Early registration is $99 and opens Sept. 1.

Attendees can expect to learn about fundraising, leadership and governance, public relations, social media, volunteer management, organizational effectiveness and more through a series of breakout sessions. The all-day conference will feature a luncheon with author and motivational speaker Paul Vitale.

The conference will be at the Green Acres Lighthouse Center.

“We think it’s important for nonprofit leaders, board members, staff and volunteers to continue to learn and improve their skills to help them better manage their nonprofit,” said Jo McMahan, director at the Nonprofit Development Ce-nter, in a written release. “We firmly believe that nonprofit leaders with updated skills are better prepared to manage their organizations, meet their mission and serve their clients.”
