Rain-washed tar shuts down lanes on SSW Loop
Rain-washed tar at a road construction project on the SSW Loop 323 in front of Rudy's caused the shutdown of two northbound lanes.
The crews working for contractor Big Creek Construction were upgrading roads on the loop with tar, a TxDot official said. Rain washed it out before it had a chance to cure, causing vehicles to get bogged down in the construction zone, a TxDot official said.
"The rain came so quickly that the rock didn't get a chance to bond with the oil," TxDot spokesman Larry Kranz said.
Two northbound lanes between Texas 155 and Shaw Street were affected.
Several cars were reported stuck in the tar.
The police were working to clear the road and affected area.
People with claims can call Carol Stone with Big Creek Construction at 979-200-9379.
