Telling the truth, August 15
The editors of the Tyler Morning Telegraph are to be commended for choosing to print in the Friday edition a totally fact-based front page article about the new health care law, the Affordable Care Act, and its potential tax implications for most Americans.

This is a very refreshing departure from the flood of misinformation, twisting and spinning, and downright lies that we get daily from the public airways and internet concerning this very important legislation.

Unfortunately, many — if not most Americans — have not read the legislation, and therefore do not have a clear and complete understanding of what the new law is all about.

Instead, they base their opinions about it on what they hear and read, most of it being untrue or highly biased.

Your article about the law is a very welcome step in the right direction.

Your newspaper could provide a great public service if you would publish additional articles detailing the provisions of the law and what it does for the average citizen, without bias or hype, and put it on the front page so everyone will see it.

After all, this is what newspapers should be all about and what they should do best: just provide factual information to the public.

Again, I thank you for what you have done and hope you continue to do it.
