Grassroots group to hold weekly meeting Friday

Grassroots America — We the People will hold its weekly meeting at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene, 10818 Spur 248 in Tyler.

Retired U.S. Air Force Col. David Pierson is scheduled to make a presentation titled “The Subversive Legacy of Those Who Destroyed the American Union,” based on various readings including political analyst Andrew Napolitano's book “The Constitution in Exile.”
Box lunches will be available for purchase or attendees may bring theirs. The public is invited.

Democrat Summit
The 2012 East Texas Democrat Summit will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Tyler Holiday Inn, 5701 S. Broadway Ave. in Tyler.
Michael Petty, Texas Supreme Court justice, and Keith Hampton, Texas Court of Criminal Appeals justice, will be among guest speakers.
County party chairmen, precinct chairmen and party activists are encouraged to attend the training summit. Progressive messaging, voter file databases, campaign and field planning and using social media will be covered. RSVP is requested before Aug. 15. The summit cost is $20 and includes lunch.
