Tyler fire officials are conducting a search of the Tyler Jet Center and surrounding area at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport after a bomb threat was received a short time ago.
Tyler Police Training Officer Doyle Lynch said the Tyler Fire Department is handling the search and police officers assigned to the airport are assisting by keeping the area contained.
Radio traffic indicates one quadrant of the airport is closed and Susan Guthrie, the city of Tyler spokesperson, said the FBI, TSA and U.S. Air Marshals have all responded to the scene.
“A vendor (Tyler Jet Center) received a call this morning indicating a bomb threat. So because of that everyone was called to the location,” she said.
Ms. Guthrie said a search is ongoing of planes near the jet center, but no devices have been found at this time.
She added that the investigation is ongoing.
It was unclear if any commercial traffic or air traffic has been hampered due to the incident.
