UPDATED: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Smith County Until 3:45 p.m.
UPDATE:
At 3:24 p.m., a Severe Thunderstorm was reported capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 MPH.
This storm was located over Smith County, about 9 miles Southwest of Gladewater, moving East at 15 MPH.
The severe thunderstorm will otherwise remain over mainly rural areas of Smith county.
In addition to large hail and damaging winds, continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Central Smith County, Texas until 3:45 p.m.

At 2:46 p.m. National Weather Service meteorologists detected a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 MPH.
This storm was then located near Winona, about 9 miles North of Tyler and moving East at 15 MPH.
New Chapel Hill is also mentioned in this warning, specifically.
From the statement – “This is a dangerous storm. If you are in its path, prepare immediately for damaging winds, destructive hail and deadly cloud to ground lightning. People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building, but away from windows.”
