East Texas man nabbed after fleeing
KYTX CBS19

An East Texan fleeing outstanding warrants from two counties led authorities on a multi-county car chase that ended in northern Longview on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The chase began when two Camp County sheriff's deputies noticed the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jonathan Lee Anderson, in the East Texas Medical Center parking lot in Pittsburg.

Authorities said Anderson rammed his car into the deputies' vehicles to evade arrest and fled south on U.S. Highway 271 through Upshur County and into Gregg County.

Officers tried to use stop spikes but decided against it since it was a danger to other vehicles. Anderson later crashed in front of Brookshire's grocery store on Gilmer Road at Hawkins Parkway before running into the woods.

Bystanders directed officers to his location and the suspect was apprehended.

In past arrests, Anderson listed his residence as both Pittsburg and Easton. He bonded out of the Camp County Jail after a July 24 arrest for burglary of a habitation.

He had outstanding warrants from Camp and Morris counties. Now, he is in the Gregg County Jail, charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
