In a news release sent to the Tyler Morning Telegraph, Van Zandt County Precinct 2 Constable C.B. Wiley said the theft was reported on County Road 2702 last month.
A rancher, who was hospitalized when the theft occurred, told the constable more than 100 head of cattle had been stolen from his 3,000-acre ranch.
“The stolen cattle are of mixed breeding with Black Angus, Hereford, Brahman, Beef Master, Charolois, red and mixed color (cattle),” according to the release.
Cattle theft at the ranch has been an ongoing problem, with “small numbers” of cattle disappearing periodically, according to the release.
People on four wheelers and on horseback have been spotted at the ranch late at night in past weeks, Wiley said.
