City Priorities, August 5
The city of Tyler administration is now accepting comments concerning the “2012-2013 Half-Cent Work Program.” The main item of concern seems to be how to prioritize the various proposed projects.

It appears that the program has proved to be much more popular than originally thought. The ability of the city to authorize projects without having to propose and “sell” bond issues to the voters has resulted in many more projects being proposed than can be funded. The city has, in effect, outgrown the half-cent program as it is now constituted. New, more attractive projects are being prioritized ahead of less attractive older projects. A new system of prioritizing, or of funding, seems in order.
