Soldier From Tyler Dies In Action
The U.S. Department of Defense announced Sunday that a soldier from Tyler died in action last week.

According to a news release issued by the department, 1st Sgt. Russell Bell, 37, was killed in action after an improvised explosive device wounded them in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan.
Bell was assigned to serve with the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, according to the release.

Bell, along with Staff Sgt. Matthew Sitton, 26, of Largo, Fla., died on Aug. 2nd, according to the release.

Bell, the son of Jim Bell, was a 1993-graduate of Chapel Hill High School.
