Van Zandt manhunt continues; more people called in to help

Law enforcement officials continued on Saturday to search for a person allegedly tied to a double slaying from earlier this week.

The Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office issued a capital murder warrant for Donny Lee Greenhow, who was a person of interest at the scene and had ties to a stolen vehicle, Sheriff Pat Burnett said.
He said Saturday morning that the Texas Rangers and sheriff's office were working on the case, and officers had just cleared the Medical Examiner's Office, where bodies were taken for autopsy.
“We're calling in extra people. We're not resting. We're going to put this guy in jail,” Burnett said.
“If he hears his name on the air, he needs to turn himself in.”
Greenhow, 31, is described as 6-2, about 170 pounds with blonde hair, blue eyes, medium build, a scar on his upper right arm and forehead, and a tattoo on his upper right arm.
He is considered armed and dangerous, and residents are not to approach him, according to a news release.
Officials ask anyone who knows of his whereabouts to contact local law enforcement or local Crime Stoppers. Van Zandt County Crime Stoppers can be reached at 903-567-STOP(7867).
Burnett has said his office got a welfare concern call about 10 a.m. Friday at a residence at 2221 County Road 4812.
“The family member who called us said they smelled a strange odor and no one would respond to the door,” he said Friday.
Burnett said when deputies arrived, they found the two bodies in the single-wide mobile home.
Although authorities would not confirm the identity of the victims in the home, records indicate 74-year-old Peter Shick and 55-year-old Latricia Shick lived there.
“We just saw them earlier in the week, well I guess it was Sunday. This is just horrible,” a family member, who did not want to give his name, said at the scene.
“We're calling in extra people. We're not resting. We're going to put this guy in jail,” Burnett said.

Martin has said the identities would not be confirmed until after autopsies can be completed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas. Burnett confirmed that a Ford Expedition taken from the scene was stolen from Kaufman County earlier in the week and that the couple's vehicle was missing from the scene.
The family member said the missing vehicle was a white four-door 2012 Dodge pickup.
Neighbor Carolyn Guthrie said Friday that the incident had her worried.
