Pedestrian Killed On Troup Highway
Tyler police continue to investigate the death of a 41-year-old Tyler man who was struck by a vehicle Monday morning.
Tyler police spokesman Don Martin said the accident happened before 5 a.m. in the 5500 block of Troup Highway when David Wayne Bickerdike walked across Troup Highway.
“Bickerdike was crossing the roadway, mid-block on foot and was not in a crosswalk. Bickerdike was struck by a northbound 2008 KIA Sorento, driven by Susan Helgesen, 58, of Tyler,” he said.
He added Ms. Helgesen did not see the pedestrian because of darkness and his clothing.
Martin said no charges are expected in the case.
