UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed In Morning Troup Highway Accident Identified
Tyler police identified the pedestrian who was struck in the 5500 block of Troup Highway before dawn today as David Wayne Bickerdike, 42, of Tyler.
Bickerdike was crossing the roadway on foot and was not in a crosswalk, police said. Bickerdike was struck by a northbound 2008 KIA Sorento, driven by Susan Helgesen, age 58, of Tyler, police said.
Helgesen did not see the pedestrian due to darkness and his clothing.
Martin said at this time no charges are likely in the case, and that the motorist was not at fault.
All northbound lanes were closed at Troup Highway between Shiloh and Thistle while investigators worked the scene.
