Good Column, July 22

ROSES:
I want to thank Dr. Donohue for his recent column about peripheral neuropathy. I specifically appreciate the information that in 50 percent of all people, the cause of the PN is never found.

My mother was told that the cause of her PN was because she'd been an alcoholic or at the very least, had consumed enough alcohol when she was a young woman that it caused the PN. To say my mother went through the roof is an understatement. We've since learned more about PN and believe the chemotherapy she received for her breast cancer is the cause of hers. And yes, she's tried many medications to control the pain but without relief. She's now scheduled for a permanent neuro-transmitter placement that under the trial, gave her complete relief. There are options; there is hope. Again, thank you Dr. Donohue.
