Readers Offer Endorsements In Runoff, July 22
I have known Terry Phillips for 30 years and regularly attend church with him where he serves as head usher. He's a family man with integrity, a good character, and strong work ethics. He has proven that we can count on him to consistently study the issues and be a well-prepared, common-sense commissioner.
Terry first ran for Smith County commissioner for Precinct 3 because of the $125 million dollar jail plan that was not what the taxpayers wanted. He also was outraged by the 30 percent pay raises previous commissioners voted for themselves and the lack of common sense and transparency on the court. Terry has made good on his commitments to the tax payers: given back $48 thousand of his salary by not taking any part of that raise; supported and helped pass a no frills jail plan at $35 million, which was $90 million dollars less than the previous courts plan; and has stood for transparency. Now all checks written by the county, as well as Commissioners Court meetings are posted online for public viewing. Smith County was recently the recipient of the Gold Star award for transparency by the State Comptroller's Office, due in part to his efforts

I know Terry Phillips to be trustworthy and conservative and I know he will do what is right for Smith County. Please join me by voting for the most conservative commissioner on the court, Terry Phillips, for four more years.
