Two-Vehicle Accident Leaves Motorcyclist Injured

A two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 271, just north of the intersection with Texas Highway 155, left a motorcycle driver injured Wednesday evening.
Department of Public Safety Cpl. Nicholas Castle said that around 7:05 p.m. a pick-up truck pulling a trailer was headed north on U.S. Highway 271 and tried to turn back south on the highway. As the vehicle turned, a motorcycle struck the trailer.
The motorcycle driver, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to the hospital by helicopter. The extent of the driver's injuries is unknown.
The driver of the truck was cited for an unsafe turn, Castle said.
DPS and the Winona Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
