TISD Board To Meet In Closed Session
The Tyler ISD board of trustees is scheduled to meet in closed session today to continue discussions about finding an interim superintendent in light of Dr. Randy Reid’s expected departure.

Reid, who has been TISD superintendent since 2007, was named Keller ISD’s lone finalist for the same position more than two weeks ago. That district can’t officially hire him until after a required 21-day waiting period.

TISD trustees met in closed session last week to discuss Reid’s contract and employment status.

After that meeting, board president Michelle Carr said the district is looking to fill the interim superintendent position with someone who previously has worked as a superintendent and is not interested in the permanent position.

She said the board had some people it was interested in contacting for the position and would work from there.

Today’s meeting is scheduled to begin at noon in Room A of the district Administration Building, 1319 New Sunnybrook Drive. Because the board is meeting in executive session, it will be closed to the public.

However, any action taken regarding Reid’s contract and employment status would have to be voted in open session.
