Readers Offer Endorsements In GOP Runoff, July 15
We met Larry Smith in 1994 when we were building our house in the circle where he and his family were living. Living this close to someone, for as long as we did, allows you to know just what kind of person they are. Larry will mow your yard when you don't feel well without being asked, and he stands ready when you need any kind of help. He serves without thought of reward or recognition and does it with a smile and humility. He always has a kind word showing concern for any situation in which you may be.

You may ask, “What does this have to do with being the best candidate to become the next sheriff of Smith County?” We need a servant leader who can lead by example and has been there and done it, and understands the people he serves, and leads with unquestionable honesty and integrity.

Adding Larry's experience with the Gregg County sheriff's department, his vast experience serving federal government law enforcement agencies, experience solving major crimes, extensive training, serving as a trainer and instructor in the U.S. and foreign countries, his lead role in numerous team assignments to the servant leader qualities, how can we not see that Larry Smith is the kind of leader we want for the Smith County sheriff's department.

Larry Smith will be the kind of sheriff that will make us all proud to say, “I'm from Smith County and Larry Smith is my sheriff.”
