Medical Group Celebrates Move To Green Acres

The Cardiovascular Associates of East Texas celebrated 30 years in Tyler as well as a move to a new facility on Friday.
The medical group moved to its location in the Green Acres Shopping Center last month.
The 50,000-square-foot facility allows for more than three times the space of the old location on Fifth Street, providing for more rooms, specialty clinic space, research and more.
“The celebration is basically knowing we have the ability to treat our patients with the optimal care in an environment of comfort, compassion and also being able to offer them the state-of-the-art in cardiology care,” said Dr. C. Noah Israel, who said he was the first cardiologist to come to Tyler 30 years ago. “We also plan for future expansion to be able to offer new technology as they become available.”
Israel, along with the group’s other doctors, joined community members, other physicians and staff members for a grand-opening reception.
In addition to the cardiovascular group, the facility is home to the Vein Center of East Texas, Tyler Cardiac & Endovascular Center and the CMWL (Center for Medical Weight Loss) of East Texas.
Dr. Scott M. Lieberman said it’s been three to five years in the making, but more than 10 years in the dreaming/planning stage.
He said the doctors thought about what they wanted in a facility, if they could have anything, before narrowing down to the most useful for now and the future.
One of those dream spaces was a medical education facility. The open-meeting space can seat 80, and Lieberman said they plan to use it to bring in speakers for the community, nursing students and other physicians.

Audio-visual capabilities will allow for live views from certain rooms so speakers can show the audience certain procedures as they are happening.
“Medical care is all going to be about access and value; that’s what the whole health care industry from the industry side is looking at,” Lieberman said. “If we can offer … services where we have more education, more lectures, more preventive care, we think that’s going to help save lives, money, dollars, stress down the road.”
The office has 28 rooms, including specialty rooms, compared with the nine exam rooms of the old office.
In addition, there is a large cath lab, ample space for the vein center and a separate entrance and area for medical research.
Israel said they plan to add specialty clinics for diabetic management, pulmonary hypertension, smoking cessation and more.
The office serves between 85 and 100 patients daily in all its facilities combined. Israel said they expect that number to grow and have the space to accommodate that growth.
During the time for remarks, state Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler, read a proclamation from Gov. Rick Perry to mark the occasion.
Berman said he was amazed to see the new facility and called it the finest in the state.
He said East Texans don’t have to go to Dallas, Austin or Houston for treatment because they can be taken care of right here.
Mayor Barbara Bass proclaimed Friday Cardiovascular Associates of East Texas day. Mayor Bass told those gathered at the new office she was thrilled to be there to celebrate the 30th anniversary.
She said although the official population of Tyler is about 100,000, that number swells to 300,000 daily because of the educational institutions and medical industry located in Tyler.
“Without this industry, Tyler would not be the wonderful community that it is today …” Mayor Bass said. “May God continue to bless the hands of everyone who works here — from the front desk to all the doctors — and may lives continue to be blessed and changed.”
