Support Smith, July 11
While I have not known Larry Smith very long, I have attempted to objectively evaluate his potential as our Smith County sheriff. Larry has law enforcement related abilities which have been developed by years of investigative activities at all levels. He began at the Greg County sheriff’s office where he advanced very quickly through the ranks into a leadership position. His final employment before retirement was with the ATF as a criminal investigator where, at the end of that career, he served local citizens by solving the case related to our church fires. He collected so much evidence that the suspects pleaded guilty without even going to trial.
These experiences, along with his level headed and even tempered approach to solving problems, will allow Larry to provide outstanding leadership to our sheriff’s office as he works to reduce the availability of drugs and their related criminal activities. His leadership style will offer the kind of management we will need as the new jail is built, staffed, and begins operation.
Larry can also call upon his experience, both local and international, to provide the citizens of Smith County the law enforcement we need and expect. The respect Larry has earned from other law enforcement agencies in and around East Texas will help as he builds a network of agencies working together to reduce the crime rate in our region. I encourage everyone to vote for Larry Smith on July 31, if not in the early voting period the week before.
