Stanton Sets All-School Reunion
The Stanton All-School Reunion is set for Friday through Sunday at Harvey Convention Center in Tyler.

The theme is Standing Together Alwasy, Remembering Stanton (STARS), organizers announced.

Stanton, which served black students in the Whitehouse area, traces its roots to the 1800s and what was known as New Hope School, which was located near New Hope Baptist Church. according to information provided by the reunion committee. In its earliest years this school had two teachers and eight grades.

In 1924 the school moved to land west of Highway 64. The named was changed to Stanton in honor of longtime trustee John Stanton.

In the 1940s through the early 1960s, Stanton fielded teams that excelled in both sports and academic events.

In the 1960s, Stanton was integrated into the Whitehouse school system. The final year of the school was 1969.

The reunion will include registraton and a banquet at Friday night at Harvey Center, a picnic and formal dance on Saturday and a worship services on Sunday.
